Just prior to OracleWorld in September, Bill Dwight, Oracle's Vice President of Application Development Tools, gave an interview where he described this exciting new technology and answered several other questions in an interview for eWeek (Oracle's Dwight Champions HTML DB).

The last question in the interview asks about sites that have been built internally using HTML DB.  He provides a generic answer that mentions hundreds of sites but does not really mention any external sites built with the product, which in all fairness wasn't the question.  I am interested in compiling a list of sites built with HTML DB, both intranet- and Internet-based.  If you have a site that you would like to include in the list, please let me know about the site (My email).  By the way, the Ask Tom site listed in my blogroll was built using this technology!

If you are just getting started with XML DB, check out my article that was published in the March, 2003 issue of the Technical Journal of the New York Oracle User's Group (NYOUG) ("Getting Started with Oracle 9i's XML DB") .

You may also want to check out the various other NYOUG Technical Journal articles at the NYOUG Technical Journal ArchivesYou do not need a subscription to the NYOUG on-line Technical Journal articles but the articles posted there are one quarter behind the printed version. Some of the authors you will find include Dr. Paul Dorsey, Arup Nanda, Rachel Carmichael, Kevin Loney, Richard Niemiec and other developers and DBAs prominent in the Oracle community.

Hello and welcome to my new Weblog!

My weblog will concentrate on two new Oracle facilities:

  • XML DB, Oracle's built-in XML repository available starting with 9.0.1
  • HTML DB, Oracle's new tool for building departmental level web applications which is available now but will be provided as a standard component of the 10g database release
