Skills  and  Accomplishments :

·                     Advocacy  --  I have assisted individuals in obtaining Public Assistance - Home Relief, Medicaid, Food Stamp benefits, and to get into a long term substance abuse rehabilitation program.

·                     Self-Advocacy  --  Personal experience in advocating for disability benefits for my own disability over the past six (6) years in the following areas :  Public Assistance;  Food Stamp;  Medicaid applicant  &  recipient – including extensive knowledge of the new Medicaid buy-in program;  Medicare, Homeless Shelter resident and housing programs;  and, SSDI disability applicant, including extensive knowledge of the SSA Ticket To Work Program, and other SSA work incentive options.

·                     Advocated for myself at a number of fair hearings I requested to dispute denial of benefits, or erroneous benefit amounts.

·                     Researcher in a gender and disability discrimination case under of the Federal Americans with Disability’s Act (“ADA”) 42 U.S.C. §§12112-12117; and, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as codified, 42 U.S.C. §§ 2000e-17, (“Title VII”).

·                     I have excellent legal research and writing skills.

·                     Researcher  in landlord / tenant housing court cases, acting for the defense attorney for the respondent-tenant.  NYC Civil Court - Housing Part procedures, apartment violations, and eviction proceedings.

·                     Member, Religious Society of Friends (Quakers), Brooklyn, NY.  -- “Community Dinner Committee”, 1993 - PRESENT.  This committee provides a meal on the last Sunday of every month for needy New Yorkers in our Brooklyn community.
