I woke this morning with this thought: the one the Israelites often simply referred to as "The Name" (Lev. 24:11) has through Jesus given us the grace to call him "Father." The Israelites even wrote the letters YHWH to represent "The Name" as a way of avoiding any direct address of the one who called them their God and who said they were his people.
My friend and loving mentor Terry Smith has said more than once to me that "Abrahama didn't call him Father, David didn't call him Father, no one in history called God Father--that we know of--until Jesus invited us to call him "Abba, Father."
This fact has changed my life and can change yours.
