No doubt this is the sort of thing that will make Republicans accuse me of hating America, but I'll say it anyway. It's not like I'm ever going to be nominated to the Supreme Court.
I actually like America quite a bit, but I sure dislike our disgusting habit of celebrating our nation's birth by exploding fireworks. What a horrible horrible tradition. No wonder we have such an odious, bellicose foreign policy. Freedom, my ass. America doesn't love freedom. America loves blowing things up.
I don't much care for any holidays, but the ones I really hate are the fireworks holidays -- New Years Eve and Independence Day. Three hundred sixty-four days a year I love America. Today I don't.
