Yes, indeed, I do intend to do the King William's College General Knowledge Paper (aka, "the quiz") again this year. Earlier this month I checked KWC's website and discovered that the school term ended Dec 14. Since then I've been googling daily watching for the Guardian's article. (Looking at past year's Guardian articles, I see no consistent pattern for when they publish it.) It wasn't till this morning it occurred to me to check the front page of KWC's website, and sure enough, there it is.

File info on the PDF says it was created yesterday (Thursday) morning, so it sounds like I haven't missed much. It'll be nice to get an early start this year, so that my googling will be more research and less compiling answers from other threads. As of this morning, I'm still not turning up the Guardian article nor anyone else's thread, though I'll find out for sure when I start looking up key words from the quiz.

As in past years, I'll run an answer page separate from the blog. I like to keep the questions themselves off that page, and I code the page so that it asks search engines not to index it, a practice I recommend to anyone else doing this sort of thing. Hopefully that keeps my answer page off of Google. The quizmaster works hard to devise clues that are not easily googled. (It wouldn't be much fun if they were). It defeats the purpose 360-fold if googling a few words from the quiz turns up a discussion thread providing all the answers (though that effect is mitigated somewhat by the fact that many threads include several wrong answers and false leads).
