A Hole in Space, Larry Niven (1974)
For those (if any) who are new here, it is my habit to record every book I read or reread in its entirety here, no matter how little or how much I have to say about it.
Not much to say about this one. As I've mentioned before, I have most (not quite all) of Niven's books, and I'm in the habit of grabbing one to reread every so often.
I do like Niven, but I'm not sure I like him that much. I think a few of his books and short stories are excellent (Protector is my favorite) and many more are good. But there's also quite a few that are mediocre and some that are bad. Nonetheless, I reread them all. I'm not sure why. The comfort of familiarity, I suppose.
A Hole in Space may very well be the worst of his short story collections. A few of the stories are OK, and that's about the best I can say. But it's the book I happened to pick up one day when I was in the mood for that sort of reading.
