Finished chapter five of the novel today. Still a long ways to go, but that's something, at least. And when I say I finished a chapter, I pretty much mean I finished it. Like, final draft finished it. Because I may write a hundred or so pages beyond where I'm really at in the novel, so that I know more or less what's coming up, and what I'm writing toward, but usually I go back and really solidify what I can, because then I have a solid base from which to work, nothing's left loosey goosey. This is a slow process, but it seems to be how I have to do it.
Anyway, now I'm off to read it on the printed page, see how it looks there. That's the real test of whether it's done or not.
