Mummy!

Half past ten and Zoe has just been shouting, Mummy! from her bedroom. When Jill went in Zoe said that something was making her want to cry, something that she said to Daddy the other night. We put her to bed an hour ago. She's been worrying about The Night of the Pattern Parrot.

When I went up to see her see didn't say anything. She just did her little kitten thing, wriggling in my arms and rubbing her head against me. I've never met a child that has such a strong identification with cats. She mewed and turned as I held her. It's her way, one of her ways, of saying, "I love you."

I said, "I love you to bits darling. I'm not worried about the other night and I don't want you to be worried. I'll always love you and I know you'll always love me."

She mewed some more and I tucked her into her blanket. The clocks changed yesterday so it's no surprise that she was still awake. It's a shame to think that she might have been lying there for the last hour getting worked up about sending me to prison.

Damn, she's gorgeous. How could I not love her to bits?

Apple's One Button Mouse is good for...

...three year olds.

Johnny has just spent five minutes practising his cursor control at this mad site. He finds my PowerBook's one-button mouse much easier to use than the two button mouse on the PC.

It wasn't much fun for me. I had to stand behind him the whole time as a three year old, a chair with castors, and a wooden floor are an accident waiting to happen.
