I was working at home last weekend to finish up some work to migrate Sun's Java Adventure Builder 1.0.1 to use EJB3 and Web services metadata my daughter Nistha who just turned last 4 last week had all reasons to resent. It was her birthday weekend and indeed it her was right to have complete attention. She pulled my mouse and asked me get out of my home office. I told her that I want to get this work on AdventureBuilder done and hence the next question: “What do you mean by adventure?” I was puzzled how to explain her and told her: it is something like going on a big ride at her favorite Enchanted village. The next question: “Do you love adventure?” I said yes and she ran to her mom and started singing “Mommy, papa loves adventure, me too!” and I could continue my work adventure builder.

We released OC4J 10.1.3 Developer preview 4 and it now integrates EJB3 Preview and Web services metadata support (JSR-181) and new features such as Oracle Business Rules - java based Rules engine. We also updated our EJB3 support (non-persistence) side to allign with the public draft specification.

It was quite an adventure for me atleast to make the Sun's build scripts to work with OC4J. If you want  a complete end-to-end example that integrates J2EE 1.4 (JSP 2.0, Servlet 2.4) with new technologies such as EJB3 (Persistence API, Session Beans and Message Driven beans) and Web services metadata then have a nice adventure into this nice territory. We have made the code and prebuilt EAR for the application available with a lot of other EJB3 samples.

I will write a comprehensive article on the changes made by me when I get a chance. If you do not like it then do not forget to drop a message in this thread.
