Three big application server vendors (BEA, IBM, and Oracle) joined their hands together with IONA, SAP, Siebel, Sybase, Zend, and Xcalia to develop Service Component Architecture (SCA) and carry forward Service Data Options (SDO).

SCA is the new model for building Service Oriented Applications. SCA provides an open standard, language neutral model for assembling and composing services and SDO provides a common way to access many different kinds of data and aims simplify access and manipulate business data.

  • SCA and SDO complement s each other and provide:
A Language Neutral Assembly Model specification to simplify the development and usage of Business Services called: "Service Component Architecture"
  • Language specifications (in Java and C++ )  for implementing SCA service components
  • Service Data Objects specifications (in Java and C++ )  describing a common rendering methodology for data exchange between clients and services

Hope these specifications will simplify the development of SOA. You can find more about these standards here
