TGV trip
During the school summer holidays I have been taking the kids out to various attractions in the area, and one of those attractions was to visit a train museum for my 6 year old son Hugh. He enjoyed the trip but was disappointed that there was not a TGV on the model layout. So, a couple of days ago I booked a day return on the TGV from St Malo to Rennes. The TGV line from Paris has recently been extended into St Malo with a new station
When we arrived at the station the train was waiting at the platform and I noticed on the front of the train a small brass plaque claiming a world record speed for this particular train of 515.3 Km/h in May 1990. That's over 300 mph. Checking the Internet on our return after a very enjoyable trip revealed this page about the world record. Very impressive.
So not only did Hugh get to go on the TGV, but also the record breaking Trainset 325 at that.
