MAGNESIUM - MORE IMPORTANT THAN YOU MIGHT HAVE THOUGHT. - Here's why:
Two studies - one from Brigham and Women's Hospital, Harvard Medical and an earlier one from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine Study have confirmed the magnesium/diabetes connection - a clear association between low serum magnesium levels and an elevated risk of type 2 diabetes.

Researchers evaluated data from Women's Health Study food frequency questionnaires completed by more than 39,000 women over a period of six years. The BWH team also measured insulin levels in 349 of the subjects to examine the relationship of magnesium intake to insulin. Analysis of the combined data showed a significant association between elevated levels of magnesium and a reduced risk of diabetes. And among women with adequate magnesium levels who were also overweight, diabetes risk was more than 20 percent lower when compared to overweight women with low magnesium.

CONFUSED BY THE MEDICARE PRESCRIPTION DRUG BENEFITS PROGRAM???

Don't feel bad - it/'s not you that's mixed up - it's the government.

It would almost be entertaining to watch the Medicare prescription drug fiasco play out, if it didn't affect millions of people so negatively. After one mis-step after another, another element of the new program was rolled out last month: Medicare drug-discount cards. By all accounts to date, these are so confusing that they border on being completely useless. In a Kaiser Health Poll Report Survey done last month, six in 10 seniors didn't even know about the discount card, or didn't think they were eligible. If you'd like to learn more about the bill, or the discount drug program, go to: www.medicare.gov or call 1-800-MEDICARE.
