To The Editors of some Colorado papers.
In September 2001, we got stung by a bee. Bush's response was to find a
nest and whack it with a stick. Now, with the bees buzzing around his head,
he says it would send a mixed message if we don't keep swinging that stick.
The angry bees are out and flying. If we get lucky, we might knock one out
of the air, but most of the bees will still be stinging. Kerry says pull on
a thick long sleeved shirt and some netting and go ask the neighbors for
help. Bush says keep swinging the stick.
Given his current knowledge, if Bush finds another nest, he would whack that
one too. The only thing keeping him from it, as Kerry points out, is we are
too busy with our current swarm of bees and we don't have enough sticks.
In the next four years, I don't want to live with the fear that Bush could
set his sights on another nest and go after it with another stick.
