FINISH LINE FOR JOHNNY KELLEY

As I was catching up on last week's newspapers, it saddened me to come across the obitituary of Johnny Kelley, a two-time Boston Marathon champion who became one of the most beloved figures in the history of the race by running it a record 61 times. He was 97.

I remember seeing him at the start of Boston, when I was covering the race as a journalist about 25 years ago. He seemed to be the happiest man at the start, cordial to all those around him.
