REST DAY, WEIGHT -- 236
What a nice and encouraging email I received the other day:
---Good for you!!! Sept 1, 2004...I weighed almost 200 lbs. I now weigh 160. It can be done!! And running is "the truth and the way". It doesn't matter how fast it just matters how far. I am younger than you by twenty years but I still think I can help with the inspiration. So, I am going to make a couple of suggestions for you to consider. One is very basic...go to see a certified orthologist and get fitted for inserts in your shoes...and get the right shoes. The "day after" pains in your leg muscles and joints will significantly improve and your miles will increase. The other is radical...kill the TV if you haven't already, hit the hay at 9PM with a good book each night. (I go to bed with my young children now days, and the TV has been turned off.) I wish you luck and good cheer! The first 10 lbs will be the best present you have ever received from yourself...and then you just can't stop and won't stop until you are slim and trim again. It is so nice today here (MI) that I can't wait to get out of work, lace the shoes and disappear for 1.5 hours.

Thanks for the kind comments, erlybird. Much appreciated.
I do wear orthotics, having had them since October, and I believe my shoes, New Balance M587NV, are the right ones for a heavy guy like me.
Now, your idea about getting a good night of sleep, that is an excellent one, but one I seem to have trouble achieving, always for something that seems a good reason at the time yet is regretted the next day when I struggle with drowsiness.
