Born-Again Runner
Backgrounder, dated January 9, 2004: I'm in my 62nd year, having carried 242 to 246 pounds on my 6'1-1/2" frame for too many years. My high-school weight was 176, so I could drop up to 70 pounds, if I could. Today, I ran for the first time in years, almost three minutes--twice! I've been born again. Alleluia!

GYM -- 30 MINUTES

Last weekend, I purchased something called a performance hybrid bicycle, made in Quebec by Devinci.

After four months off with a bad hamstring and now severe shin splints grounding me, I've concluded God doesn't intend for me to run much anymore--at least not till I shed a pile of weight, thus, I'm going to try riding three times a week, do weights twice a week and walk/run long on Sundays. We'll see how it goes.

The three short rides I've had so far have been fun. The change from walking/running might be just the ticket for me to be born again on the comeback trail to fitness.
