Born-Again Runner
Backgrounder, dated January 9, 2004: I'm in my 62nd year, having carried 242 to 246 pounds on my 6'1-1/2" frame for too many years. My high-school weight was 176, so I could drop up to 70 pounds, if I could. Today, I ran for the first time in years, almost three minutes--twice! I've been born again. Alleluia!

WALK 55 MINUTES AROUND GREEN LAKE IN SEATTLE

When I put a pair of Dockers on that I had not worn for a couple of months, they were so tight I was uncomfortable for much of the afternoon meeting. Obviously, I've gained some weight.

So right after business was done, even though it was dusk, I took a lap around 2.8-mile Green Lake, one of the gems of Seattle. Got to get serious about shedding weight and losing this gut of mine.

WALK 35 MINUTES ON PUGET SOUND

Unsure how much daylight will remain after my afternoon business meeting in Seattle so took a short walk before lunch in Carkeek Park which includes a beach.
