WALK 1 HOUR 25 MINUTES ON LA BOUILLEE DE BOIS TRAIL -- WEIGHT 237
We're enjoying our little house on the beach with its complete kitchen so much we're hardly eating out by the end of the first week on Iles de la Madeleine.
We're cooking fresh and simple. Last night, it was halibut, caught in the morning, filleted just for us, dipped in egg and pan fried with a little oil and butter. With a terrific cole slaw from the village charcuterie and golden home fries of our own making.
Our cottage--chalet in French--has a large living and dining area, a roomy U-shaped galley, two bedrooms and a bathroom. At this time of the year, it's C$450 per week, in July and August, it's C$650. You can pay more for newer and bigger chalets, or less for those not on the beach.
We chose this chalet for it's location, on the beach, with no neighbours on our left. There are chalets on the right but the first occupied one is 100 yards down the street.
We're getting ready to drive up to the main village on the main island, 15 to 20 minutes to the northwest. We need to organize a boat excursion, check out some property for sale--just out of curiosity, and pick fresh lobster for tonight.
