Born-Again Runner . . . sort of
Backgrounder, dated January 9, 2004: I'm in my 62nd year, having carried 242 to 246 pounds on my 6'1-1/2" frame for too many years. My high-school weight was 176, so I could drop up to 70 pounds, if I could. Today, I ran for the first time in years, almost three minutes--twice! I've been born again. Alleluia!

GYM 25 MINUTES

Ken Thomson died yesterday morning. Tears came to my eyes reading the tributes to the man. What a billiant businessman, what a great newspaperman, what a warm human being! I almost went to work for him in 1977, and met him only once, briefly, about five years earlier, when we were both shopping for ties at Simpson's.
