Born-Again Runner . . . sort of
Backgrounder, dated January 9, 2004: I'm in my 62nd year, having carried 242 to 246 pounds on my 6'1-1/2" frame for too many years. My high-school weight was 176, so I could drop up to 70 pounds, if I could. Today, I ran for the first time in years, almost three minutes--twice! I've been born again. Alleluia!

WALK/RUN 2 MILES ON TRACK

That may have been first time this year that I stepped on the quarter-mile track at the high school. Mainly for a change of pace from the spit down by the lake.

At about 75% effort, averaged about 15 minutes per mile, which is a tad better than I expected.

I'll see about adding a mile every other week or so to develop Thursday into my long day of the week. Sundays now are my long day on the bicycle. Aiming to get into the rhythm of three days walk/run, three days ride, one day off.

CALORIES: 1,619 eaten 3,077 burned, down 1,458 (!) for the day.

Thank goodness, that made up for the excess of yesterday.
