Born-Again Runner . . . sort of
Backgrounder, dated January 9, 2004: I'm in my 62nd year, having carried 242 to 246 pounds on my 6'1-1/2" frame for too many years. My high-school weight was 176, so I could drop up to 70 pounds, if I could. Today, I ran for the first time in years, almost three minutes--twice! I've been born again. Alleluia!

AVERAGE WEEKLY WEIGHT: 232.14 LB, DOWN 1.9 LB, DOWN 13.9 LB IN TOTAL

Heartening to see almost two pounds drop over the last week. That's what I need to do every week until May if I'm going to lose 65 pounds by my 65th birthday.

After weeks and weeks of being stuck at 234, progress returned when I eliminated my great love, butter, eliminated coffee so it would not enhance appetite, eliminated red wine so it would not enhance appetite while adding only empty calories.

Counting calories--what most people call watching their diet--at FitDay.com and regular exercise--bicycle three days a week, walk/run three days a week--are the cornerstones of the campaign.

RECAP: April 17--246.0 lb, April 24--244.5, May 1--241.86, May 8--240.0, May 15--238.7, May 22--237.57, June 12--237.14, June 19--236.29, June 26--234.57, July 3--234.86, July 10--234.14, July 17--234.43, July 24--233.14, July 29--231.57, August 28--234.0, September 4--233.71, September 11--234.0, September 18--232.14.
