Born-Again Runner . . . sort of
Backgrounder, dated January 9, 2004: I'm in my 62nd year, having carried 242 to 246 pounds on my 6'1-1/2" frame for too many years. My high-school weight was 176, so I could drop up to 70 pounds, if I could. Today, I ran for the first time in years, almost three minutes--twice! I've been born again. Alleluia!

WALK/RUN 3/1 32 MINUTES ON FRENCHMAN'S BAY SPIT

Hooo, Lake Ontario looks green and cold! Wind out of the east likely means snow overnight.

The walk/run was my warm-up to launch into John Bingham's gentle training program for walking/running the marathon, as published in Marathoning for Mortals. Week 15 or so should see me ready to tackle the 30K as the short-term goal under Ever Onward on the right.

CALORIES: 1,881 eaten 3,217 burned, down 1,336 for the day.
