How the Demopublicans cured me of paranoia ...

Yes there was a time I was afraid my govt might begin conducting warrantless searches without probable cause or even any evidence of a crime.

But with the advent of random roadblocks and airport searches in the early 80's I know longer have to fear that.

I used to be paranoid that my govt might one day begin siezing private property without charging much less convicting the owner of a crime. But with the advent of asset forfiture in the mid 80's I no longer have to worry about that possibility either.

I used to paranoid that my govt might begin to decide who I could and could not vote for and that they might start throwing away votes cast for people they did not approve. But with the passage of North Carolina General Statute 163-123(f) I find they are doing that as well so i no longer have ot worry about it.

I was once so paranoid that I thought the day might come when US presidents might commit acts of war against soveriegn nations without even informing the peoples representatives in Congress much less getting an actual declaration of war or even permission. But after Clinton bombed Afganistan and Sudan without bothering to tell Congress till after the fact I realized I no longer needed to worry about that either.

And I am almost ashamed to admit that there was a time I was paranoid enough to worry that my govt might begin to secretly arrest US citizens and hold them indefinitely in unknown conditions without trial or contact with legal counsel or family or even a priest.

But with the announcement that Jose Padilla had been secretly arrested and indefinitely detained without trial a couple of years ago I realized that I could stoip worrying about that as well.

I no longer have reason to fear any of the things I was once paranoid enough to believe might happen could come ot pass. They all have! I am completely cured of my paranoia. And it is all thanks to the demopublicans.

I am just not sure how to express my gratitude. Perhaps I should help them retire from their labors and grant them a nice long vacation.

I think I will reward them by voting Libertarian.
