Lifestyle Center Best Practices and Lessons Learned

Here is a great article on past practices and lessons learned that should be applied to the future development of the proposed development of the golf courses in Commerce. The article was provided by the Michigan Land Use Organization (who's web site can be located at http://mlui.org ). The article compares and contrasts two very similar initiatives in the greenfield development of a downtown district of two cities in Michigan. One of the major take aways from this article is on how the public needs to be very involved in the planning process and because the development affects the community long term verses elected officials typical short term (next election) focus. We encourage all to become more involved in the development that will impact Commerce long after we are gone.
