From Slashdot: "CNET has reported that Japanese
schoolchildren in the city of Osaka will be tagged with RFID tags.
Apparently this is in addition to the trial program in Tabe that The
Register reported earlier, where parents can track their children on their
way to school."
I would ask if things are getting a little out of control, but I
think that would be rhetorical. Actually, I am of two minds about
this - one in this day where the kooks, freaks and weirdos don't look
any different from the normal guy on the street, we need to do
something to protect our children, but at the same time, there is some
serious Big Brother issues about tagging people with RFID. Where
does it stop? There were some companies that allegedly were
tracking their employees through pagers and cell phones when they went
to the bathroom and held that time against the employee. Do RFID
tags make such time tracking even easier?
