U.S. Warns of Threat to Financial Icons (AP). AP - The federal government warned Sunday of possible terrorist attacks against "iconic" financial institutions in New York City, Washington and Newark, N.J., saying a confluence of chilling intelligence in recent days pointed to a car or truck bomb. [Yahoo! News - Top Stories]

I have to go and grab some duct tape and water...and make sure the car has gas and the batteries are charged in the radio.  For those not in the affected regions, please return to your regularlly scheduled life, already in progress.

Microsoft Issues Patch for Browser Security Flaw (Reuters). Reuters - Microsoft Corp. (MSFT.O) on Friday issued a widely expected patch for its Internet Explorer browser, which was known to have a flaw that would let hackers take control of computers and distribute malicious software code. [Yahoo! News - Technology]

OK, now you have been warned.  If you don't stop everything and go download and INSTALL this patch, you are a fool - oh, and pick up the latest virus signatures while you are at it.

9/11 Report Iffy on Tech. The 9/11 Commission made recommendations for technology solutions in its final report -- some specific, some fuzzy -- to bring government into the information age. By Michael Myser. [Wired News]

I am sticking this one up so I can come back to it later - I just finished reading The Myth of Homeland Security and it covers some very interesting things about IT security and the Federal government.  I want to come back to this in depth in a few days once I have all my arguements pulled together.
