Bush Pressing Case for 'Ownership Society' (AP). AP - Amid signs that the economy is cooling, President Bush is showcasing initiatives for a second term under the banner of an "ownership society" in hopes of bolstering his economic stewardship credentials. [Yahoo! News - Top Stories]
I think this is where I call it a night...too much absurdity in one day is enough for me...

Bombs rattle Spanish resort towns. Two small bombs claimed by Basque separatists explode in northern Spanish resorts, causing minor injuries. [BBC News | News Front Page | UK Edition]
Ummm...in this supposed war on terrorism, why are the Basque's not being targeted...where are the invasions of the Basque region....oh, that's right, they have nothing in the way of resources...or money...or anything useful...kind of like why the 7th Fleet isn't in the Sea of Japan - off the coast of North Korea...you remember North Korea right? They have weapons of mass destruction....but that is another issue...

Online Satirists Pull No Punches on U.S. Election (Reuters). Reuters - Some are born to rule, others to
ridicule, is a worthy reminder to U.S presidential hopefuls
struck by an endless arsenal of satirical barbs on the Web. [Yahoo! News - Technology]
Go have a good laugh over this year's antics. I did. Now if
I could only get that cruise around the world that would get back after
the elections are over...oh, wait, they never end.

You're Athletes, Not Journalists.
Olympians can do media interviews but they'd better not blog. The
International Olympic Committee, interested in protecting lucrative
broadcasting contracts, forbids any activity that might upset the
networks. [Wired News]
Now this is just depressing. You spend all this time training and
you want to write about it after your events are done, but the IOC is
so worried about the precious media rights that you cannot. What
are things coming to. If the Olympics fail, it will be due to
greed.
