Regulators promise 'light touch' on BPL.

light regulatory touch on broadband over power line (BPL) service as
electric companies begin to experiment with the alternative to

Using XML....
Hi Tom, I want to create a file (it's a spool from a table) in XML
layout. What is the best way to do it. The only way I can think of is

Big nerd day - this is really out there - but if you use XML and Oracle
on a regular basis and you don't already use the XDK, then you need to
be, otherwise, you are working too hard.

Another nerd story, but one you might find interesting. This talks about Migrating from Windows to Linux on the user desktop and how to achieve it without a lot of fuss and fighting. Besides the great tips, one thing just jumped out at me - Novell is a major player. Why? Because they realized early on that making Windows work meant being able to easily and effectivly manage the user desktops. Something even Microsoft with its various administration tools hasn't figured out. Novell on the other hand, just expanded its existing Windows management to be GUI insensitive - so it doesn't matter if your UI is Windows, KDE, MacX or CDE on Solaris - it can manage it all, easily.
Oh, and did I mention the security issues of Windows? Much...

For those who have not seen an H2, the new Hummer, it is quite a truck. Why anyone needs a 6 000 lbs truck that gets 10 miles to the gallon is beyond me, but that is a different rant. Now it seems that there is a bigger truck about to hit the market. You can see the details in this story. Other than professional contractors, I cannot see this sitting in a garage in my neighbourhood. In fact, you won't see them in the garage - I doubt they would fit!
