Bush Says Kim Jong-Il 'Must Listen' on Nuclear (Reuters). Reuters - President Bush urged North Korea leader Kim Jong-il on Wednesday to return to stalled six-party talks on its nuclear program "for the sake of peace and tranquility and stability." [Yahoo! News: Top Stories]
And the leverage he is using is??? Let us take a quick reality break. North Korea does not care what the United States (or any other) government says. So unless and until the United States starts listening to what North Korea is saying, they might as well be yelling at the moon.

School Shooter Called Self Angel of Death (AP). AP - He created comic books with ghastly drawings of people shooting each other and wrote stories about zombies. He dressed in black, wore eyeliner and apparently admired Hitler and called himself the "Angel of Death" in German. His father committed suicide about four years ago, and his mother is in a nursing home after an auto accident, according to news reports. [Yahoo! News: U.S. National]
We cannot and should not blame the school system on this one, but surely someone should have noticed that this child was in trouble. Now I know the goth crowd is going to get all over my case, but I have to wonder if there is not something a little self-destructive going on there as well.

Reinsertion of Schiavo Feeding Tube Denied (AP). AP - After losing two consecutive appeals in federal court, Terri Schiavo's parents vowed Wednesday to take their fight to the U.S. Supreme Court as their severely brain-damaged daughter began her fifth full day without the feeding tube that has kept her alive for more than a decade. [Yahoo! News: U.S. National]
This can go one of two ways. Either the Supreme Court will deny the petition, which will make the Bush administration look as stupid as it has show itself to be, again, or they will hear the petition, which will justify Congress's intervention. Of course, they can still rule against it. Based on what has been witnessed thus far, I am betting they will deny the petition, which will bring this to the final end.

ChoicePoint's Checks Under Fire. Even though a federal law requires consumer reporting agencies to either verify the data they give employers or notify job applicants about negative reports, ChoicePoint appears to be doing neither in some cases. By Kim Zetter. [Wired News]
This should come as no surprise. I have experience with these people running a background (incorrectly) on me and finding out about it through the people they interviewed (who I did not know and who really did not know me - turns out they had the wrong person)...and you think credit histories are riddled with errors.

Microsoft nears completion of corporate patch server. Microsoft today issued a release candidate for its Windows Server Update Services and launched the beta program for Microsoft Update, a public, Web-based patch-download site and the replacement for the current Windows Update. [Computerworld News]
If you are running a Windows 2003 server, this is a good thing. There are so many hotfixes on the street that they needed to be rolled up into one patch, as well as some additional functionality and new tools. Also, rumors of SP2 patch 1 coming to a Windows Update server near you.
