Texas High School Football Coach Shot (AP). AP - A high school football coach was shot on campus Thursday by a student's father who claimed to have a hit list, state officials said. Schools in the district were locked down while police searched for the shooter. [Yahoo! News: U.S. National]

How many teachers and students and other innocent people have to be shot by some nut who could legally acquire a gun before this country has a serious discussion about real gun restrictions.  It is past time for control and time to start talking about melting them down.

Man Who Defended Self Cites Incompetence (AP). AP - Thomas P. Budnick says his lawyer's incompetence was to blame for his assault conviction. The funny thing is he was representing himself. [Yahoo! News: Top Stories]

Jackson Jurors May Have Mocked Witness (AP). AP - Jurors in the Michael Jackson molestation case were apparently overheard laughing at a remark that might have been mocking a witness, although no court action was expected. [Yahoo! News: Top Stories]

This whole case is a mockery.  Jackson needs professional help and a few years in jail won't hurt either.  It really is time to move on.

Border Volunteers Probed Over Allegations (AP). AP - Three volunteers patrolling the border for illegal immigrants were being investigated after a man told authorities he was held against his will and forced to pose for a picture holding a T-shirt with a mocking slogan. [Yahoo! News: U.S. National]

This should come as no surprise.  Even if it turns out all they did do was give food and water, the entire project is a mistake.  None of these people are trained enforcement personnel and all they are doing is getting in the way, well meaning or not.
