Herd of Buffalo Disrupt Traffic in Md. (AP). AP - A herd of buffalo somehow got loose and wandered around an upscale neighborhood Tuesday, disrupting traffic and alarming homeowners before officers managed to corral them in a tennis court. [Yahoo! News: Top Stories]
Now this is funny. Almost as funny as the duck in front of the Treasury building in downtown DC.

Storm brewing over online data from National Weather Service. U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum (R-Pa.) has introduced a bill that would curb efforts by the National Weather Service to expand the detailed forecasts it makes available online for free. [Computerworld News]
Excuse me? As a tax payer, and therefore a CUSTOMER of the National Weather Service, I am already paying for my weather reports thank you very much. If you think you have a better product, then bring it on. Otherwise, you are going to have to step away from the radar dish.

Trend Micro says no compensation for buggy update. The number of companies affected by a faulty anti-virus update released by Trend Micro during the weekend stands at 652 businesses, but the company has no plans to compensate users for losses they may have incurred as a result, executives said at a news conference in Tokyo on Tuesday. [InfoWorld: Top News]
Someone commented once that the software industry (or maybe the IT industry in general) is the only industry where we accept buggy defective products as normal. If this had been, oh, I don't know - say a brake system - there would be howls of indignation.
Instead, several comapanies have been brought to their knees and Trend Micro's response is ho hum. Unfortunatly, so is the consumer's. Maybe it is time to start holding them accountable for their actions (or inactions).

Consumer Confidence Dips, New Home Sales Up (AP). AP - Consumer confidence declined in April for the third consecutive month, signaling Americans' concerns that economic growth is leveling off. But one area of the economy is still white hot: the government said sales of new homes shot up 12.2 percent last month to the highest level in history. [Yahoo! News: Top Stories]
I am concerned about this, and you should be too. If people can ONLY afford to buy homes, then what is the economy going to do to get itself righted. Housing starts are good, but I think we are seeing a serious case where there are too many people trying to just pay the mortgage. I just went through the refinance procedure and I was amazed at the level of debt I was carrying (something I commented on at the closing). I have since found out that my level of debt is miniscule compared to the national average.
What I really wonder is if I am staying awake at night wondering how I am going to pay my bills, what is happening to all the people out there that are just barely able to make the monthly payments?

Photos Show Pitt, Jolie Together in Africa (AP). AP - It's true — again? Despite denials of a romance between Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, new photographs show the couple on a beach in Africa, according to published reports. [Yahoo! News: Top Stories]
But more importantly, why do we care? I could have pulled a dozen sorid stories into this one, but what is the facination with stars and their relationships. I guess most of us live boring lives?
