Ducks Move Upstream From Treasury Dept. (AP). AP - The hottest new tourist site in the nation's capital is no more. After a boffo four-week run, the Treasury duck has been moved from her prime nesting spot in the midst of heavy tourist traffic a block from the White House to a more peaceful setting along a quietly flowing stream. [Yahoo! News: Top Stories]

And they are cute too.

Runaway Bride-To-Be Could Face Charges (AP). AP - A jilted groom and a town full of puzzled residents may not be all that Jennifer Wilbanks faces, as authorities Monday weighed the evidence and the legal issues to determine whether she should be charged with a crime. [Yahoo! News: Top Stories]

From the category of weird and bizzare...I just have one question - if she really did not want to get married, or worse did not want the big wedding, why did she not tell her fiance, or her parents?  I have to wonder what sort of generation we are living in if she did not feel she could do that.

AOL Treats Fla. Emergency E-Mails As Spam (AP). AP - Emergency managers in Indian River County thought the best way to get their message out was by e-mail, but AOL disagrees. [Yahoo! News: U.S. National]

Indian River is not alone in its concern, nor in its legit use of email - NOAA, and other governmental agencies that deal with both the public and private sectors use email to send annoucements of vital interest to those that have signed up.  Further, many non-profits use it as well.  The problem, as we are beginning to see, is that because users don't know the difference (or how to configure their machines and email correctly) to catch and filter, ISPs have taken it upon themselves to protect us, thus, the legitimate uses of email and mailing lists is being lumped in the spam bucket, forcing many organizations to abandon the email notification route, leaving many citizens without important, and sometimes critical, information.
