Novell's OES provides ties between NetWare and Linux. Based on our Clear Choice Test of OES, we think it's a major breakthrough in Novell's long-stated intention to marry its directory and administrative applications to Linux. OES layers a highly competitive directory service onto Linux, provides decidedly evolved administrative and management components and offers very good, egalitarian client support. Does Foxwoods Game Amount to Web Gambling? (AP). AP - A first-of-its-kind computer program has one of the world's largest casinos locked in a dispute with regulators who are steadfast against any loosening of U.S. rules against Internet gambling. [Yahoo! News: Technology News]

I do not understand the fascination.  Or the regulator's position.  Games of chance have been around for thousands of years and unless you are really bad at math, that is all they should be to you, a quaint way to spend a couple of hours.  Some have described poker as a game of skill, not luck (although I would argue there is some luck involved, it is more based on skill - the skill of reading people than most games are), but for the most part, craps, roulette, and slots are nothing more than a money maker for the house whether that is a tribe of First Nations or a multinational conglomerate.

It seems to me that a government that claims to want to protect us from the evils in our society should be doing a better job of policing itself than worrying about how I spend my hard earned money.  Deal me in, I have an hour to kill and a couple of spare bucks.

Aging Borders let go by Mariners By CBC. [CBC | Baseball News]

Pat Borders was one of the good guys.  While a .197 is not all that great an average (although I belive it would be high if he were a Padre) Pat always called a great game and was fun to watch.  If no one picks him up for the rest of this season, I expect he will annouce his retirement.  That being said, I fully expect to see him managing and coaching the next group of players.
