I find it amusing how the Republicans at the local level want the states to take up the issue of immigration, what is clearly the purview of the Federal government, yet do not want to deal with the issue of aid to those that are already here, legally or not and need the support of the local government, if for no other reason than to reduce the overall negative impact on the local community.
At some point, someone has to ensure that the people driving on the roads are at least skilled enough to do so and to be able to throw the book at them when they cause an accident. Face it, most of the people driving today (as an example) should not be. Now add to the mix a group that is trying to play down their presence, but needing to get around. How many illegals do you really think take public transit? Face it folks, you are dealing with two different issues.
If the Federal government does not want to be involved, then the issue of enforcement has been abdicated. Most jurisdictions do not have the training or resources to pick it up, so they are going to do the best they can with what they have been dealt. If you do not like it, then call your Federal representative.
