Texas County Bans Parking Near Bush Ranch (AP). AP - Two weeks after Cindy Sheehan left her anti-war campsite by the road leading to President Bush's ranch, county commissioners have banned parking along 23 miles of roads in the area. [Yahoo! News: U.S. National]

Of course they have.  Next the Secret Service will be erecting steel fences.

Grandma Fired for Missing Work to Babysit (AP). AP - When forced to decide between caring for her 18-month-old granddaughter whose parents were stranded in New Orleans or leaving the girl with strangers so she could show up for her assembly line job, Barbara Roberts chose to be a grandma. And for that, she was fired. [Yahoo! News: U.S. National]

While the company in question may have had legal grounds to terminate Ms. Roberts, if I was in her position, I would have done exactly the same thing.  Too bad companies are still more interested in the bottom line than the welfare of their employees or their employee's families.  You do not have happy workers if they are more concerned about what is going on at home than on the job.  Safer too.

Judge: School Pledge Is Unconstitutional (AP). AP - An atheist seeking to strike the words "under God" from the Pledge of Allegiance in public schools has won a major battle in his quest to force the U.S. Supreme Court to take up the issue again. [Yahoo! News: U.S. National]

As today is Constitution Day here in the Excited States, perhaps it would be worth while for some really big thinkers to take a look at the Pledge in toto and perhaps throw the whole thing out.  While it seemed a good idea at the time, it really is beginning to show its age.

Hacking's a snap in Legoland. Toy-brick fanatics decided to modify Lego's Digital Designer product. The company's response? "It's great." [CNET News.com]

I have been a fan of Lego ever since I got my first set all those years ago.  I have always found the product to be engaging and entertaining.  It is nice to see the company that prides itself on design gets it.  Unlike so many others.
