Microsoft touts Live Communications Server for securing IM. Instant messaging - to some network managers it's the devil's tool. It eats up bandwidth while contributing to a downturn in productivity they say. Others think it's a security minefield, where the unwary risk having viruses and other malware surreptitiously added to their users' desktops and, worse, their network servers. Consumer spending, incomes fall (Reuters). Reuters - U.S. consumer spending dropped a larger-than-expected 0.5 percent in August, the biggest fall since November 2001, according to a government report on Friday that also showed a surprise decline in income that may have reflected Hurricane Katrina.  [Yahoo! This also should not come as a surprise.  500,000 people with no home, no income, no savings and no real prospects?
