More U.S. workers playing hooky. With excuses like "I'm too fat to get into my work pants," less information is probably more when calling in sick. [CNET News.com]
Let me see if I understand this. Most US workers get 10 days of vacation and a smattering of the manditory federal days off (most are lucky to get the big 5, which usually equates to a little more than 14 total days off. The result is a work force that is grossly overworked, fatiqued and unproductive. And yet managers are surprised when someone calls in sick with a lame excuse to take a day off when the sun is shining or the urge to play golf overcomes them? This is not a bad thing people. It certainly is not a firing offense. I think I feel an opthomological problem coming on....I cannot see going to work tomorrow.
