Germany tightening border checks to stop bird flu (Reuters). Reuters - Germany is tightening controls at airports and borders to try to prevent illegal animal imports bringing avian influenza into the country, Environment Minister Juergen Trittin said on Thursday. [Yahoo! News: Top Stories]

Of those who have died, in almost every case, they have been poultry workers or their immediate families.  There is no indication as yet that the virus has mutated to the point where it will skip one human to another.  That is the good news.  The bad news is that it seems to be skipping from chickens to migratory birds.  It could be a very long winter.

The Bush administration is looking more and more tainted by the moment.  Is it any wonder people have very low opinions of his ability to lead and the general lack of respect for politicians in general?
