Genetically altered asthma cure coming from Singapore

At least that's what this report implies. The genetic material comes from a dust mite.

The researchers had removed a gene from dust mites and injected it into mice, which were later found to be immune to asthma-causing allergens, the paper quoted team leader Chua Kaw Yan as saying.

"When injected into the muscle cell of humans, it will turn that cell into a factory for making allergens or proteins," Chua was quoted as saying. "The protein will then be processed by the body to create an immunity."

Sounds mity fine.
