Manipulation Alert

I've been on the lookout for good commentary from the mainstream press about the very frightening suggestion that terrorism threats might force the US to postpone the Nov 2 elections. While Condi Rice has denied that such an idea is even under consideration, Tom Ridge's rhetoric linking terrorism and the election and Republican strategists who have planted the idea that the terrorists don't want Bush re-elected ( therefore, Americans should vote against the terrorists... ) should make everyone uncomfortable. Currently, I am keeping an eye on how this issue plays out in media coverage. Given the voting problems in 2000, the press should be especially vigilant to make sure all eligible voters have access and that all votes count this time around. In the meantime, the best commentary I've seen on the matter thus far is by Mark Fiore, master of the animated political cartoon. Do put him on your bookmark.
