Building Choice into Long Term Care
In the past, fate has dictated the passing of life in what are euphemistically called "nursing homes". But there is no longer a need for such a fate, if we are willing to work to change the rules.

Dusty Hogue, who fought to get out and stay out of a nursing home for the last two decades, died of congestive heart failure Wednesday morning, August 4.  Dusty had built his own accessibility contracting business, and had long worked to advocate for the right of choice to stop institutionalization.

Recently, Dusty had talked to state policy makers directly about why staying out of a nursing home was important to him.  Though failing in health, the strength of his belief in freedom and choice came through.  In the last few weeks, a taped interview was also done with Dusty about his story and his fight.

We'll miss Dusty...
