Senate Passes Smith Amendment to Prevent 2006 Medicaid Cuts.
The US Senate voted to 52 to 48 in favor of an amendment to the Senate
budget resolution offered by Senator Gordon Smith (R-OR) that would
take the proposed Medicaid cuts off the table for the purposes of the
fiscal year 2006 budget, deleting instructions to the Senate Finance
Committee to cut $15 billion from programs under its jurisdiction...
