The last night of the year.
What to do?
It is the tradition in Spain to concentrate around the town´s major plaza´s and celebrate the change of the New Year with the ingestion of 12 grapes , one for each chime of the clock upon the last stroke of the year.
This can be a dangerous experience if one cannot gulp down in time all those grapes.
Plaza Catalunya seems to be the meeting point in Barcelona for the New Year´s change over. Unfortunately due to previous year´s incidents where people just literally bombard the plaza with empty bottles, the police have taken action and will restrict access to the plaza forbidden glass bottles and inviting attendants to empty all bottle´s contents into plastic cups before accessing the plaza catalunya.
After midnight a good area to hang out , that I like,is of course the Ramblas and the Borne sector.
If you are lookking for more action try the fiesta organised at the Pueblo Español in Montjuich.
If you are looking for a bit , only a bit more peace, head up to Gracia.
Also , the subway will stay open all night.
Happy New Year to all of you.
