The Entrepreneur Think (EntrepreViews) (selected articles in bizdrivenlife compiled)
Entepreneurial Mind has a report which highlights the hard work needed for an entrepreneur to succeed. According to this report, Entrepreneurs on average work 52 hours a week. It also noted that small business owners work six days a week, with more than 20% working all seven. 14% of them took zero vacation days, and almost 40% of those who do say they still answer work-related phone calls and email even on vacation.
Nonetheless, 67% of small business owners said they were satisfied with their personal life-work balance and almost 90% said they were satisfied with being a small business owner in general.
Another post I particularly liked was his distinction on what is the difference of being a businessman and an entrepreneur. He believes that the distinction centers on private or public ownership of the company. According to Dr. Cornwall, the transformation is more defined through the IPO. In his opinion, when a business, no matter how small, goes public, it becomes a different entity than an entrepreneurial venture, and the founder becomes an employed manager. He become somebody who works for other shareholders than himself.
