Homeschool No More
The drama ended yesterday at approximately 1:30 p.m. Anjie got home early, checked the phone for messages, and there it was--finally. The hand-wringing was over--Daniel got the call from the registrar's office at Roosevelt High School, and he's in.
For those unfamiliar with this educational fiasco, the Seattle School District did not receive our paperwork last spring regarding Daniel's preference of High School (we don't do the neighborhood school thing here in Seattle...go figure) and as a result, he was assigned to Chief Sealth High School in West Seattle. Well, that wasn't going to happen, so while we managed to get Daniel on the waiting list for Roosevelt, the school his sister already attends (the bus for which stops practically right outside our front door), we came up with a plan B, which was for me to homeschool the kid for a year.
Whether that would have a been a brilliant idea or a really terrible one will be lost to the land of what-if...Daniel, thrilled, relieved, happy to be joining his buddies in the September ritual of returning to school, just got on the bus. Latin, Integrated Math II, Language Arts and Drama, here he comes....
Thanks for the prayers...
