Thoughts heading off to Ruin...
Back to Pacific Theatre to do Leaving Ruin a few more times...looks like attendance and box office is coming in about where everyone had hoped...got the donuts for the run, and all the props I forgot last week (including my pants!)...really sad I missed my daughter heading out the door for her big dance last week (her pictures were to die for)...another amazing and challenging conversation with Dick Staub yesterday...watched the debates, like Cheney way better, fundamental philosophical differences pretty clear...working on ARTHUR: THE HUNT, will finish a new draft this week (hopefully)...ARTHUR: THE BEGETTING scheduled for a January 17th, 2005 directed reading at the Jean Cocteau Repertory in New York...and check out Taproot's 2005 season brochure for great pictures of ARTHUR: THE BEGETTING and others...
Beyond that mishmash, thinking about what it means to yield up life to God...fully, completely, in the deepest caverns of the heart. Thinking about the onslaught of cultural tidbits carrying commodified messages, and the meanings we walk away from them with. Thinking about living in an edgy time, in between old and new, in the "amniotic fluid" (thanks, Dick Staub) of technology and changing meanings. I feel antsy these days, edgy, like there's no home exactly, not here in front of the computer, and my old friendly books are cantankerous, not bringing the comfort they once did. Which should it be: media blitz and comprehending the events of today's world, or the old single book, and the desert island five (Merton, Willard, Shakespeare, hmmm, who else?) with days of quiet, to understand the wisdom of humanity, ancient and future?
Thinking of yielding life up to God...
