Paul Coleman

I woke up in a foul mood yesterday. Some mornings are inexplicably unnerving, the only explanation being that during the night, the unconscious, like a low-life sneak dumping trash along the highway under cover of darkness, spewed up frustration and touches of anger just to make my Lord's day anything but. Sundays can be particularly snarly, bad moods exacerbated by the desire--if not the expectation--of sabbath calm. I was looking at a full of day of necessary holiness, and as I rolled into the morning assembly at the Northwest Church, I was not exactly plugged into divinity.
But Paul Coleman, formerly of the Paul Coleman Trio, was in town to do a benefit performance last night, and yesterday morning, was at the Northwest Church to lead worship in both the instrumental and a capella services. Paul has been to Northwest twice before, and I'd missed him both times, but buzz after those events was always strong, folks impressed by his easy manner with the congregation, his sincere, approachable manner of interacting.
Thankfully, Paul was everything I'd heard, and before long, the Spirit had used Paul to loosen me up a bit, and before the end of the time, I was back in full voice, much more ready to handle the day. Check out Paul's web site to hear a bit of his new single, which we sang yesterday. "Gloria" is a song about the commonality of all of us, something we need to hear in these strident times.
We all walk the same earth
We all breathe the same air
We all feel the same rain that falls
We all have the same call
We're all God's children after all
Made for love by the maker of all
