I didn't know Britain funded the Arts this way. Tim Eyeman...another initiative!
Just kidding. But this is an interesting article outlining the past ten years of arts funding in Britain, huge swaths of money coming from the National Lottery. I can't even imagine. There's also strong debate about whether the arts are to be pursued as a part of a larger politcal/social agenda or as a good that has its own intrinsic worth.
