"When I designed this angel, I felt very fragile...in need of hope...I made all of the lovely fabrics because I couldn't decide which ones to chose from so I used them all. It was the curve of her arm that decided the way the child would be held...it was the music I listened to "in the arms of an angel" that inspired me to use the colors of hope when all seems lost. I hid a golden rose in her dress hoping that someone would find it as an unexpected gift the blood red rose of her heart in her hand as she holds it our for one more try. Her golden wins not in flight but on earth...holding the breath of new life (I love the way the baby's head looks so real).

If you look very closely she really has three wings. There is a special band of angels who are

the closest to God and they have three wings (I was told this by a dear friend who was a nun).

The baby's blanket protects the mother as well as the child...and the starts of heaven move in circles around her head because she gazes at life...a new beginning."

Here's my most favorite angel. It was the very first piece that I ever stitched. My first one hangs in my hallway. Everyone that sees it just loves it!

I am stitching it again on a differnt backround fabric this time. The face,hands and baby are stitched over one. It's coming out very nice. The fabric is Linen, Size 17.5 x 25.5 on 28 ct Natural. One day I decided to count all the stitches, the exact total stitch count is:14,797 sts. I guess I'm sick to count the stitches but I find that it really doesnt take much time because I count them as I go on my highlighted chart. It's marked up anyway so I just count the boxes that are not full and write in the amount with a pen. I keep a running row tally on the side of the page. When its all done I add up the sitches. I must confess thou, there some patterns that I went out of my way to count just for the fun of it!
