Here's comes another one, just like the other one. . .
www.pandora.com
Like many people I love to find new music that's like the music I like.
I've tried using the recommendations on MSN Music and iTunes but Pandora seems like the best system so far as it does it algorithmically. That means that when you say "I Like This Song", it finds other songs that have similar tempo, similar instrumental arrangements, and even similar musical structure (major chords, for example).
It's currently an advertising supported, browser-only system but hey, it's so good why hold that against it!
Making money. . .what a concept!
Nick Wilson, over at http://performancing.com/node/178, blogs about the top 10 business models, in rough order of popularity. He's talking about making money from blogging but I also see that these are becoming more and more universal, being used for selling almost any kind of intellectual property, including software.
Here's the list:
1. Advertising
2. Affiliate Marketing
3. Consultancy
4. PR Vehicle
5. Lead Generation
6. Product Sale
7. Donation
8. Subscription
9. Syndication
10. Ecommerce
